The Greene County volleyball team won its first round in Class 3A regional play, defeating Southeast Valley 3-2 in Jefferson on Oct. 19. The Rams traveled to Humboldt Wednesday where they came up against 31-3 Humboldt. The Wildcats won easily 25-17, 25-11 and 25-9, ending the Ram season.

Greene County battled for a five-game victory over Southeast Valley in the Rams’ new gymnasium. It was a seesaw affair with GC winning the first, third and final set with scores of 25-23, 25-16 and 15-12. The Jaguars took sets two and four, 25-23 and 25-15.
Brianna Osterson led the Ram attack with 28 kills, followed by Isabella Schroeder with 13 and Lily Muir, 11. Natalie Heupel set 48 assists.
Defending the GC court were Muir and Natalie Heupel with 16 digs apiece. Osterson added 13 digs and Eliza Carlson had eight.
The Rams were successful on 92 of 102 serves for 90.2 percent. Top servers included Natalie Heupel with 15/15 and three aces and Analynn Baugh going 17/17 with three aces. Carlson added 20/20 and two aces; Katrina Heupel 15/16 with an ace; Osterson 13/18 with three aces.
Humboldt 25-25-25 | Rams 17-11-9
The Rams were shutout at Humboldt in the semifinal round of Regional tournament action.
Humboldt posted 38 kills while Greene County had 17. Osterson spiked eight kills and Natalie Heupel set 15 assists.
Katrina Heupel and Carlson each recorded eight digs while Osterson and Muir had seven apiece.
Serving was down to 89.5 percent on 34 of 38 attempts for the Rams. The Wildcats were on fire at the service line, posting 97.2 percent on 69 of 71 attempts with six aces.
